I opened my eyes, but everything was blurry. I blinked and winked several times, hoping to clear up my vision. The light in my room seemed funny, and there was a dull ache over my whole body. I tried to roll over onto my side, but I couldn’t. There was something irritating my right arm too, but when I went to scratch it with my left, my arm felt ridiculously heavy. I felt so out of it, as if I had been asleep for days. I was confused, and I couldn’t remember the night before. Had I gone out? Had I missed graduation? No, I was at graduation. I remembered it vividly, as well as the party afterwards. Come to think of it, I remembered going to the caves a few weeks later. I was so lost. I thought of Evan. It seemed like I was always thinking about Evan. Of course he was the guy I had liked ever since middle school. I signed and thought of his sweet smile.
I blinked again, and my vision cleared up slightly. I was confused when I saw Evan. I scrunched up my face in confusion, and it hurt. I also couldn’t open my eyes all the way. I tired to speak to him, but nothing came out. Just a scratchy croak! “Great!” I thought to myself. “I must have been at one hell of a party, and now Evan gets to see me like this!” He looked up at me, and the look of shock on his face startled me.
“Core?” He asked.
Core? No one called me Core. Only Emma called me Core, and only because I had known her since elementary school.
“What is going on?” I managed to say, in an incredibly raspy voice.
“Oh my god! CORE!” He said, and jumped up. I glanced around the room with my swollen eyes. I was in the hospital!!
“What is going on?” I managed to wheeze.
“Shhhh. Don’t talk. Hold on, okay?” He said, then pushed a button that was over my head. The door opened, but I couldn’t manage to turn my head enough to see who came in.
“Yes?” I heard a woman, I assumed a nurse, say to Evan.
“She’s awake.” He said.
“What? That is silly-“ she gasped. “I’ll be right back!” She said, and ran off. I was so confused.
“Core.” Even said, and took my hand in his. He leaned down and kissed my forehead. Now I was really confused! I had barely had enough courage to talk to him, and he was kissing my forehead? The door opened again, and a doctor and the nurse from before stepped into my line of vision. The doctor walked over and started checking the equipment, then checking over me.
“Amazing.” He said.
“What is going on?” I managed to get out. It was barely audible to my own ears. I wasn’t sure if any of them even heard me.
“Corey. You are at St. Timothy Hospital in the ICU ward.” He said, then paused. “ Do you know how you got here?” He asked.
“No.” I said. My throat hurt less this time. The nurse helped me sip a little bit of water. That helped immensely.
“You were in an accident. Well, the victim of a crime actually.” He said. Evan squeezed my hand.
“It’s May 31st.” He said.
“Right after graduation.” I said. An extremely troubled look crossed his features.
“May 31st 2007.” He said.
“What? How long have I been here?” I asked.
“You were brought in two weeks ago with severe head trauma.” He said.
“Then how is it 2007?” I asked. I could hear my heart rate start to speed up on the monitor.
“I think right now you need to relax.” He said.
“NO!” I said. The nurse gave me a shot. I started feeling sleep all at once. Apparently something was wrong. I could feel the doctor and nurse rushing around me franticly. I heard Evan say something. I couldn’t place it at first. Then it hit me. He said, “Is my wife okay?”
After that, sleep. I woke up again a few hours later. Evan was still next to me, asleep. I coughed, and he woke up.
“CORE! Let me get the doctor!” He shouted.
“Wait!” I said. He looked worried.
“What is going on?” I asked.
“The doctor says you are suffering from amnesia. You don’t remember much after graduation 7 years ago.” He said. I felt like panicing, and I heard my heart rate go up again. I took a deep breath, and was able to calm myself down again. Evan rushed out of the room.

I layed there in silence for what seemed like an eternity. I heard someone start shuffling through some papers as I felt myself doze off again.

"Corey." I heard a light whisper.
I opened my eyes. It was Emma.
"Em." I mumbled.
"You need some water, babe?" She asked. She helped me sip some water.
"I don't want Evan to see me in here." I whispered.
She giggled. "You are looking a lot better than you did even just a few days ago, girly." She said. "He saw you then."
"How did we meet? And what happen to your hair?" She asked.
"Got sick of the blonde." She said. "Decided to try black."
I sighed and got a pain in my chest.
"Oh and Evan. Yeah, he's your lover." She said. "I heard you lost some memory. Doc said you're doing better though. . . I think you'll make a full recovery."
I smiled and she went on to tell me all about how Evan and I became, well Evan and I. I ended up dozing off again.

When I woke up again Evan and Emma were talking.
"Am I really 25?" I asked. Evan smiled, and Emma giggled.
"Yes, sweetie. We all are." She said.
"Where is my mom?" I asked. They both lost their smiles.
"Uh...well-" Emma started to say, then looked at Evan.
"Your mom passed away two and a half years ago." He said.
"What? No!" I said. "How?"
"Cancer." Emma said.
"This isn't fair! It's like some nightmare." I said. Evan put his arm around me and hugged me. I was married to him? I had no memories of ever being with him! I started to cry. Just then the doctor walked in with a very pretty woman.
"Hello Corey. This is Dr. Abigail Shaunessy. She is our Psychiatrist." He said.
"Hello." I said, shakily wiping my tears away.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Corey." She said.
"Dr. Shaunessy is going to meeting with you to help you cover mentaly." The Doctor said. I didn't know his name. He must not have realized he hadn't introduced himself to me.
"We will be moving you into a regular room in the hospital tonight, and you can begin physical theraby within the next few says.
"Physical therapy?" I asked. Just how bad off was I?
"Don't be worried. You have full funtion of your whole body. It's just to help you get your strength back. You have been stuck in a hospital bed for two weeks." He said. I felt a little better.
